This #GivingTuesday supports El Puente Latino.
El Puente Latino (EPL) is a non-profit organization educating and serving the Hispanic/Latino community in Waukegan, Illinois and the surrounding area to promote the holistic development of families and individuals.
Community Food Pantry
EPL pantry is open every Saturday at the premises of the Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe church. An anonymous supporter provides a donation to the Lake County Food Depositary for the costs of the food purchased by ELP.
The agency partners with local grocery stores, provides fresh organic fruits, vegetables and healthy food. Everybody is welcome on Saturdays from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Health Education and Treatment
With this program, ELP provides health education and treatment referrals for metabolic illness, serving the Latino Community in Waukegan and surrounding areas focused on individuals which are not currently using or do not have access to primary care. We have many workshops available focused on the following areas: diabetes and high blood pressure, nutrition and healthy living education, postpartum health and early childhood development and more.
